Public health emergencies put a great deal of additional stress on families while simultaneously reducing access to many of the services and supports they rely on. This stress and lack of resources can weaken protective factors and create conditions for maltreatment or relapse. This tool provides considerations, tips, and practice strategies to staff as they address the unique challenges and needs of families affected by a parent’s substance use disorder in child welfare.
