National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors, 2019
Provides an overview of the SAPT Block Grant, the largest source of federal funding for SUD treatment and other services. States using these funds must provide additional protections or funding for certain vulnerable populations identified in the statute—including pregnant and parenting women. Pregnant women must be given priority in treatment admissions. Those referred for SUD treatment must access treatment or interim services within 48 hours. Interim services include education and counseling on prenatal substance exposure.
