Review of State Strategies to Expand Medication-Assisted Treatment

Prepared for the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, the resource helps Medicaid agencies and payers improve access to substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, quality, and capacity with a special focus on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD). The authors conducted a review of state activities (including Medicaid agencies, Medicaid managed care organizations, and single-state agencies for substance abuse) that have significantly increased both the number of individuals receiving MAT for OUD and the number of providers delivering MAT services.
